Let’s Talk Culture- Disability within Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) Communities
Ishar presents "Let’s Talk Culture," an enriching event designed to enhance cultural competency in the mental health and well-being space. As service providers, recognizing and addressing the diverse needs of those we serve is crucial. This seminar series provides valuable insights into working with one of the most vulnerable groups in our community: CaLD women. By understanding their unique challenges, we can better support their mental health and overall well-being.
The second seminar of this year, "Disability within Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) Communities," will explore the unique challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in diverse communities.
Key topics include:
Language barriers, cultural stigmas, and societal attitudes toward disability
How different cultures perceive and address disability
The impact of cultural taboos and beliefs
Challenges in accessing education and employment opportunities
The need for inclusive policies
Availability and accessibility of support services
Strategies for systemic advocacy and self-advocacy
